Whitman Capital was founded by Douglas F. Whitman in 1994 as an investment advisory firm focusing on technology companies both in the public and private market.

Who is Douglas F. Whitman?

Douglas F. Whitman is President of Whitman Capital, L.L.C. and is the principal portfolio manager of Whitman Partners. Launched in 1994, Whitman Partners specializes in electronics investing with a focus on communications, software, and internet. Mr. Whitman's venture investments include Boston Technology, Exodus, Global Village, Macromedia, Octel, Polycom and Sytek.

Prior to the launch of the fund, Mr. Whitman spent 11 years on the buy side (money management, both public and venture investing) and sell side as a securities analyst for leading emerging growth investment banking firms with Hambrecht & Quist, Alex Brown & Sons, and as a Partner with Montgomery Securities. Mr. Whitman was also ranked the number one communications analyst by Greenwich Research Associates. Mr. Whitman also worked at the Diebold Group and managed money for CIC Asset Management and Weiss, Peck & Greer after he earned his BS and MBA at New York University with honors.
